Day Trading: How does it work?

So you want to make money and you are interested in investing through day trading? What is Day Trading? Well day trading is when you buy and sell stocks (usually stocks with a very high trading volume) within a matter of minutes or seconds. This is why it's called day trading, because you buy and trade the same stock on the same day. Basically day traders buy and sell large volumes of stocks hoping to make a very small % on the transaction. There are a lot of companies out there that offer day trading services because it is not the kind of thing you can do without a special account and special software. These companies can be quite misleading though promising an easy way to make money quickly when in reality it is very difficult to be successful as a day trader and the success rate is close to that of a professional poker player which is less than 1%.

Investing in Bonds

One way to make money from investing is to invest in bonds. Here in Canada we used to be able to buy bonds like 20 yrs ago that paid a rally high rate of return like 12% etc but now it has all gone to crap and it's less than 5% annual return. What is a bond you ask?

It is a debt security which is kind of like a debt to a friend. You are essentially lending money to whomever you buy the bond from which could be the government or a company. Whoever sells you the bond is the issuer. The issuer agrees to pay you interest on the money you lend them and then buys them back when they mature.

Investing in bonds is a good way to diversify your portfolio.

Investing Across the Board

Investing Across the Board?? That's right I am going to use this blog to talk about investing in a wide array of investment vehicles like:

the stock market
precious metals like gold, silver, platinum
GIC's
Bonds
Private Investments
Real Estate Investments
Currency Trading
Commodities

and much more. I will bring you interesting tidbits from the world of finance and investing. Precious metals is something most analysts are very bullish about right now. I have been studying the markets as a whole for a long time now and this site will be chock full of investing goodness. Private placements will definitely be discussed as well as film financing. The global economy is kinda whack right now but there is still a lot of people making a lot of money by investing in the right things at the right time.
